Question:
Having a problem figuring the proper draw bar.I recently purchased a draw tight hitch class 1 1/4 for my 2017 Chevy Cruz, which by the way was an awesome hitch and very easy installation. What is the recommended height up from my hitch, for my boat to sit level with my car I have a measured between 4-5 inches from top of my hitch to the tongue of my boat trail.Does that sound in the ball park.that seems to put my trailer right around the center of the bumper

So when it comes to ball mounts (drawbars) for Class I trailer hitches, the manufacturers actually design them to be used with specific ball mounts. You mentioned a Draw-Tite hitch for your 2017 Chevy Cruze but I couldn't find the one you purchased from us to determine if you had a sedan or a hatchback, so you'll need to match up your hitch with the correct ball mount. And just to be thorough I'll also add the trailer wiring you need as that is different depending on if you have a sedan or hatchback.
- 2017 Chevy Cruze Sedan: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24943, Wiring Harness # C56319 and Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3593
- 2017 Chevy Cruze Hatchback: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24951, Wiring Harness # C56354 and Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3594
Also note that in the hitch installation directions, it specifies the ball mounts must be used in the rise position. Additionally, both ball mounts come with a pin and clip so the only other thing you need is a hitch ball that matches the size of your trailer coupler. The correct ball (for both ball mounts) will either be 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256 or 2" Hitch Ball # 19258.
