How Should 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Adapter On Yakima RidgeBack 4 Look
Question:
I have had this Yakima ridgeback 4 for about 4 years and have always had difficulty installing it because of the adapter piece sticking out. Is the piece on the adapter supposed to be flush with larger aluminum piece? or is it supposed to wobble and potentially stick out? If it is sticking out, it does not fit the hitch on the car since that is a strict square. Can you please help?

I have added a couple of photos showing how the adapter should look on your Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack # Y02458, and as you can see it should be flush.
If the adapter piece is sticking out you should be able to tighten it so it does sit flush, or you may need a new adapter, as it is possible yours got potentially damaged along the way, or maybe one of the screws did. Since you mentioned yours was about 4 years old you have a couple possible options for the correct adapter:
- 2" Shank Adapter for Yakima Ridgeback or FullTilt Bike Rack - Manufactured before November 2015 # 8890298
- 2" Shank Adapter for Yakima Ridgeback or FullTilt Bike Rack - Manufactured after November 2015 # 8880612
I have added links to video reviews of both parts for you to check out.
