Your best bet would be to install a receiver hitch like the Curt Class I receiver, part # C11329. The hitch can be used as an attachment point for a bike rack. Because of the limited weight bearing ability of the Class I receiver, you will be limited to carrying two bikes and would need to choose a rack that is compatible with a Class I receiver.
None of our bike rack manufacturers recommend using trunk mounted racks on the Mazda 6 hatchback model, because the hatchback is not strong enough to support the weight of the bikes and the rack. The Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360 is a good budget-priced rack. It includes the anti-sway cradles that will prevent the bikes from swinging back and forth and hitting the vehicle or each other. The Thule Camber, part # TH9058 is also a good option.
I have linked you the hitch install instructions as well as an install video that you might find helpful.
