Hi - is this hitch referenced above the only part that i need to have installed to my 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk? Or will I need to order a modified rear lower bumper guard for this to fit though? Would appreciate your input - thank you!

The Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Trailer Hitch # 76144 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and it includes all the necessary hardware to bolt it up to the frame rails. You will not need to add a modified rear lower bumper guard or any other component to the Jeep for proper installation.
I have attached an installation video on a 2018 Jeep Compass that you can follow along with.
If you plan on doing any towing you will also need a trailer wiring harness, if you don't have one already. For your Jeep Compass Trailhawk the Curt T-Connector # C56369 will work perfectly. This custom harness will plug into factory ports behind the driver and passenger side tail lights and then you will just need to run the hot lead up to the battery under the hood. This will provide you with a 4-way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights.

Lastly in order to tow a trailer you will need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have included a great article below that details how to pick out the best unit for your particular setup, along with a link that will take you to our complete selection.
