When I’m disconnecting from my trailer the hitch keeps relocking before I can pull away from trailer

I spoke with Reese about the issue you are having with the Reese M5 Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30922 and they informed me that this is a lubrication issue. The areas you will need to focus on are located inside the head which you can see in the attached photo. If the issue still persists after these three parts have been lubricated properly then you will need to have the hitch serviced by a qualified technician.
