Will Using a Bike Rack Between a Motorhome and Toad Limit Turning Clearance

Question:

You helped me out last year with my e-bike carrier Thule Easyfold XT 2. I ended buying that bike rack and you recommended me to buy a Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver. We chose to put the rack behind our Jeep Cherokee instead of behind our Tiffin Allegro Open Road 34 PA 2018 Motorhome. After some trips we do agree it would be better to place the rack behind the motorhome and I do want to order the dual hitch receiver. However I do have one question: By putting the bikes between motorhome and Jeep Cherokee Trailhead 2018 would that not affect the turning circle? We are using a Blue Ox tow bar Avail and had even some damage to our ladder without any bikes in between. Thanks for your answer.

I am glad you have decided to use the Thule EasyFold XT 2 E-Bike Platform Rack part # TH903202 between your motorhome and vehicle as this carrier is actually not rated for use on the back of a flat-towed vehicle. In order to do this you will indeed need one of the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapters like the part # RM-077-2 or part # RM-077-4.

In regards to turning radius, the arms on your Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar part # BX7420 should be long enough to clear the bike rack so this should not be an issue. The base of the Thule EasyFold is also pretty narrow so this will actually be a perfect bike rack for this. I have attached a review video for you that shows the dual hitch adapter in use with a bike rack attached. The hitch adapter also acts as an extension giving more room for the ladder as well.
