Question:

does this unit require extra wires to provide power to open and power to run the fan or is it 1 line from the thermostat and the unit opens the vent and turns on at the same time all from 1 wire from the thermostat

There are only two wires on the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan part # FV801208, a white wire which is the ground and then a black wire which is the power. The ground wire will need to be ran to a bare metal surface and the power wire will need to be ran directly to the battery, it does not go to a thermostat as the controls for the unit are on the bottom. Also, this unit has a manual lift operation so there is no power needed for this.

If you do want a unit with a fan, thermostat, and powered lift then you can use the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan part # FV803350.
