On page 364 of the online version of the owner's manual for your 2007 GMC Envoy it states that you can tow the following:
3.42 Axle Ratio - 5,200 lbs
3.73 Axle Ratio - 5,700 lbs
4.10 Axle Ratio - 6,200 lbs
If you don't already have a brake controller I highly recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 because of how easy it is to install and use. There is no plug under your dash but there is some wiring that you will use to install the wiring for the controller. Just connect the following wires from the P3 pigtail to the following functions:
Blue - 7-Way Output to Trailer
Black - 12V Power
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
I have attached a review video you can check out as well.
