Question:
Does the 2012 Touareg have a wiring harness for a plug and play trailer brake controller? If so, how is it accessed and is an adapter required? Thanks.

At this time, a plug and play type of brake controller wiring harness is not available for a 2012 Volkswagen Touareg. But, you can still install a brake controller. There are several components you will need. First, if the vehicle does not already have a 7 or 4-Way trailer connector, you will need to add one.
To add a 4-Way you will need # 118668. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video showing a typical installation of this harness for you.
To then add a 7-Way, you will need # ETBC7. This kit includes all of the wiring you will need to install the 7-Way and the wiring to install the brake controller. I have included links to an FAQ and a video that show how to install an ETBC7 kit.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. It is one of our most popular controllers because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included a link to the installation details for the P2 as well.
