Location of Boat Trailer VIN

Question:
Trying to make sense of boat vin. Everywhere I read, vins are 17 digits. Only number I find on my trailer is stamped on top of tongue bar and is 13 digits

Boat trailer VINs are not always in a universal (17-digit) format the way automobile VINs are so your specific trailer VIN could have fewer digits. It is safe to say that what you found stamped into the trailer's tongue is the VIN.
