Question:
I would prefer the round-tube Curt over the recommended square-tube Draw-Tite/Hidden Hitch models if there is one available like the # C11000. Thanks.

I have checked with my contacts at Curt and the # C11000 is indeed confirmed as a fit for your 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI.
This is a Class I trailer hitch that offers a 1-1/4 inch opening and is rated for up to 2,000 pounds trailer weight and up to 200 pounds tongue weight. However, please check the specifications for your Golf as indicated in the owner's manual or check with your local dealership and make sure that you do not exceed the lowest rated component of your towing system.
If you will be using this hitch for hitch mounted accessories please be aware that Curt requires the use of a stabilizing strap like # 18050 for all non-trailering loads.
The recommended ball mount with the Curt hitch is part # C45016. If you need a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball you can use the # 19256, or for a 2 inch trailer ball you can use # 19258. For all of the kits that include a ball mount a pin and clip is included.
If you need a trailer wiring harness for your Golf you can use the # 119250KIT. This is a hardwire installation kit that will supply you with a 4-way flat connection.
I have included links to the products referenced above, several installation videos, and a couple of helpful articles for your reference.
