Options for A-Frame Trailer Jack on Trailer Without Battery

Updated 03/25/2019 | Published 03/22/2019

Question:

Is it possible to get this with a 7 way plug to plug into tow vehicle. My work trailer doesn’t have a battery. Also, what gauge wire would I need to use to extend wiring so that I could plug into tow vehicle? Thanks for your help.

There is a jack that plugs directly into a 7-way but the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000NG will need a separate 12 volt battery for power as it does not come with a 7-way. The issue is that the your vehicle wiring may not be rated high enough to wire it to a 7-way and you risk overloading your truck's wiring. If you want to use the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000NG I strongly recommend adding a separate 12 volt battery and housing it in a solar-powered battery box, the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Single Locking Battery Box # TLA7720RS so you do not have to purchase a separate battery charger.

Otherwise the best option is going to be a jack that does have a 7-way on it, the Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack w/ 7-Way Plug # UF38-944037 which you only need to plug in; it has 18" of lift and a 3,500 lb capacity.
