How Far Can I Extend Temco Gooseneck Coupler

Updated 03/22/2019 | Published 03/21/2019

Question:

I have a 2003 trailer with a temco square tube hitch I would like to extend but I do not see indication of how far the hitch can be extended. Is there a mark I need to look for or a measurement to confirm it is not extended too far? Thanks.

Most inner tubes of gooseneck couplers have adjustability holes to allow you to pin the inner tube into the outer tube. From my research, the Temco gooseneck coupler inner tube has holes. You can extend to the last hole of the inner tube.

If your Temco coupler has set screws or pinch screws instead of holes with a pin, most designs of gooseneck couplers allow for at least ten inches above the top hole on the inner tube according to Bulldog. To be safe, I would keep 10 inches or more of the inner tube inside the outer tube before tightening the set screw. A lot of manufacturers have went away from set screws to the hole design for safety reasons. We do not carry Temco products, so you may want to check with them for more specific information.
