Question:

Hello, I have a 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE with factory cross bars. I would like to be able to use a roof box on one side and a kayak carrier on the other. Can you recommend some roof boxes that would be narrow enough to do this? Also, bonus points if the roof box will fit on the top of my 2016 4dr MINI Cooper S hardtop as well. Not necessary but it would be cool to get double duty. Thanks in advance.

We have the Thule Force XT part # TH6356B which is 24-3/4 inches wide and has 11 cubic feet of cargo space. This would easily be narrow enough to also accommodate a kayak carrier. For that we have the Yakima JayLow part # Y04073 which is a J-style. This rack is padded, easy to load/unload, can fold down when not in use and could potentially carry a second kayak if needed. These both are a confirmed fit for the factory bars of your 2019 Toyota Highlander as well.

The cargo box would also fit your 2016 Mini Cooper S Hardtop as well as long as you had a roof rack installed. I attached a link to a page that has all of the Thule roof rack options that fit your Mini too. You'll want to select your roof style and the correct racks will be listed.
