Why Would Trailer Wiring Fuse Pop When Trailer Wiring is Connected to Trailer
Published 02/19/2019 >
Question:
All went well with install and test. Connected trailer worked for a moment, popped fuse. Discovered unused connectors below tail light when checking my gound. Could this be factory wiring for trailer hitch and that is why my wire kit is not working?

Sounds like a short on your trailer wiring caused the fuse for the Tekonsha trailer wiring kit part # 118651 to pop. You'll want to go over the trailer wiring looking for any cut or exposed wire and fix as needed before connecting the trailer again after the fuse is replaced.
It's pretty hard to know for sure what the extra connector you found would be for. It's possible it could be a factory trailer wiring connector, but none of our manufacturers have a solution for that potential setup so it seems unlikely.
