Question:

I lost the key for my Skybox 21 but was able to remove the lock core and find the code A145. However, even with the lock core removed, the Carbonite handle will not turn and I have items in the Skybox I need to retrieve. Is this normal or is there something else wrong with the handle and I might need to order a new core or handle in addition to the replacement key? Any suggestions for getting this open while I wait for a replacement key/core/handle?

I am a bit confused on the situation you are in because the lock core would not be able to be removed properly unless the box was unlocked and you used the control key part # Y8007835 to remove it. If the lock core was removed using a different method then odds are the handle was damaged in the process.

If you have the Yakima SkyBox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box part # Y07337 then you can use the Replacement Key for Yakima Racks and Carriers part # Y8772-A145 to enter the box on the opposite side but if that lock was damaged as well then you would need to take it to a locksmith to have them open it. Regardless, the Replacement SuperLatch Handle Assemblies part # Y8880348 would be needed.

If you do not have the above SkyBox 21 as there are different versions then please let me know and I will see if the correct replacement parts are available.
