Updated 03/18/2020 | Published 11/14/2018

Question:

We had the fireplace in operation for 8 hours and shut it down. The next morning it wouldnt start back up no light or heat nothing. I tripped the breaker and tried the manual and remote control and nothing works. Where do we go from here.

Your next step in troubleshooting the 26" Greystone Electric Fireplace with Remote Control # GR54FR is to remove the unit and check your outlet for power. Check your wiring as this requires a minimum wire gauge of 16AWG and some manufacturers don't account for that which leads to overheating. The owners manual I found online states that you most likely have triggered the overheat protection mode and you will need to unplug it for 10 minutes and then turn all controls off before plugging back in. During that 10 minutes you may want to check the light bulbs which are accessed at the back behind the bottom panel.

If your heater will not work in another outlet, then I recommend contacting the manufacturer.

The replacement remote for your fireplace is going to be # 324-000141. As far as the controls on the fireplace itself, we do not carry that specific fireplace so it's hard to tell. If you're handy with electronics you could try taking the control panel off and check the backside of it for anything that might look abnormal.

I used our fireplace Monday at our house and went camping the next day. We got set up and tried to turn the fireplace on and NOTHING happened. I removed the unit and check for power at the receptacle and have power. There is also power to the electronic board inside the fireplace but it still will not do anything. I also put a new battery in the remote. It won’t do anything from manual controls. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that there might be something clogging the venting, so it caused it to overheat (which triggers automatic shut down). Make sure all the lines are clear, unplug the unit from power for at least 15 minutes, and try to restart the unit. If you continue to have issues the best next step would be to contact at the manufacturer or trailer dealer directly so they can walk you through additional troubleshooting or offer replacement if needed.
