Troubleshooting Black Screen on Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera

Question:
I have no picture on the monitor. It will make the sounds from the alarm as you are getting close to the trailer or object behind you. But no picture shows up just a black screen.

I spoke with my contact at Hopkins regarding the issue you are having with the Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002. He said that if you are getting a completely black screen (not blue) then one of the pins inside the connector plugs may have been bent when connected. You can inspect the plugs coming from both the monitor and camera to see if any of the tiny pins may have been bent a little. You can try straightening out the pin and reconnecting to see if it resolves the issue.
If the problem persists please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
