Published 09/12/2018 >
Question:
I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy 4X4. About a week ago my truck kept over heating. It would spill coolant. A mechanic said it was from the cap on the radiator. He later pointed out the the clutch fan was slow. Not pulling in air properly. He was even abpe to slow the the dan with his hand.

If your vehicle fan was operating properly you would not be able to stop the fan with your hand without injury. That's a sign that your fan has a problem. Without proper air flow through the radiator you will have overheating issues like you described.
A great solution would be an electric fan kit like the Derale Dyno-Cool Fan with Thermostat # D16314. This will replace your current fan setup with an electric fan that comes with it's own thermostat which you can use to adjust when the fan comes on.
