For the Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank # RP66542 you asked from, if you have 1/32 inch back and forth giving you 0.0625 inch of play, then it is recommended to use the Replacement Shim Kit for Heavy Duty and High Performance Weight Distribution Systems # 58207. However if you only have 1/32 inch movement in one direction, then the shim will be too large at 0.042 inch when 1/32 inch is 0.0312 inches.
If the shim fits it is recommended to use it. If it does not fit, then the space is acceptable when torqued to manufacturer specifications. I've attached the installation details to assist.
If you have the Husky Center Line system then you will need the entire hardware kit # HT32340 which has similar "J" shims that are not sold separately.
