Is the sprayer on this model secured by magnets? If not, what keeps it secure when its retracted?

In a word, gravity. There is an included weight that goes on the sprayer hose that holds it down. The hose end of the faucet attached to the sprayer for Phoenix Faucets 8" Single Handle RV Kitchen Faucet # PF231441 also fits inside the spout and also helps keep it in place. The simplicity of this design is actually very effective and unless you are on an extremely bumpy road I would not anticipate any issues.
