Question:
Can both be used to carry a 17 foot kayak on a 2003 honda accord? Whats the difference between them?

The Yakima BowDown # Y04042 has premium padding which makes it more ideal for composite and plastic hulls than the JayLow # Y04073. The JayLow can be used to carry 2 kayaks though so you would only need one JayLow for 2 kayaks whereas you would need 2 BowDowns for the same 2 kayaks. If you are carrying just the one kayak the BowDown is the way to go. I have linked videos of both carriers that cover the features.
Neither carrier has a length restriction. For a single kayak both are rated for a maximum of 80 pounds.
