Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500

I have a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab w/ 6 1/2 Ft bed. This truck has a 6 inch lift and after a few necessary adjustments to my standard 5th wheel to “partially” level my trailer it ended up putting me too close too my bed rails and still sits too high in the front. So I installed an aftermarket flatbed to rid myself of the bedrail issues. I am aware of the gooseneck adapters out there but need a slider hitch because of the shortbed. Are there any low profile slider hitches out there that would help to correct this problem?

Assuming the rails on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500HD's flatbed are industry-standard distances of 22” front to back and either 20-5/8” or 29” wide you can use any sliding fifth wheel hitch.

In terms of a low-profile hitch that will fit industry-standard rails the Pro Series # PS30094 (16,000 lb capacity) or # PS30121 (20,000 lb capacity) each have a height setting that is 13 inches at the lowest; additionally, each of these hitches offer 10" of front to back travel.

The only other option for a lower hitch is the Demco Hijacker SL Series Flat Deck 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM6076SL-FLAT, which has a hitch height of just 10" along with a 21,000 lb capacity and 8" of front to back travel.

The only issue with this hitch is it does require the use of Base Rails for Demco Hijacker SL Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # DM6012. These rails do not come with brackets so you would need to have them custom installed by a professional at a local RV shop or some other qualified individual.
