Question:
Hi. I was hoping to use a class 3 hitch to mount a 250 lb cargo box. It would not weigh more than 300lbs total . Is this possible? Thanks!

There are trailer hitch receivers available for your 2015 Honda Fit but they're all Class I hitches like the Draw-Tite, part # 24920. The maximum tongue weight of the hitch is only 200 pounds and it's likely that your Fit is rated even lower than that; if at all. I looked up an online owner's manual for the Fit and it states to not to a trailer at all. Even though you're not trying to tow this is an indication that it isn't rated to carry any weight on a trailer hitch. Check your printed owner's maual or with Honda to see if you can find a tongue weight rating.
If you find you can carry cargo on the back of the Fit the Curt cargo carrier, part # C18145, will fit the Class I hitch just fine. It's weight capacity if 500 pounds but you need to keep your gear under the capacity of the hitch or the vehicle, whichever is lower, because you're always limited by your lowest rated component.
