It'll automatically adjust your trailer's braking based on the deceleration of the tow vehicle and it activates immediately so there's no pausing like with your time delay brake controllers. It does have an automatic leveling ability because there's an internal sensor on the inside which will detect deceleration even if the controller is not mounted flat.

If you already have a factory 7-way, all you need to connect the brake controller to your 2007 Toyota Tundra is the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3040-P. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.

If your truck doesn't have a 7-way trailer connector then there will be no connector under the dash for a brake controller. As a result you will not need the # 3040-P. In this case you will need to hardwire in the controller with # ETBC7.

If you do not have a 4-way connection you will need to start with one using the Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit with 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 119147KIT. Most standard light duty trailers will use a 4-pole flat connector. If your truck has a factory 4-way then you can skip this step.

The 4-way is required to install the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller 7-Way # ETBC7 to convert the connector to a 7-way. This kit uses the existing 4-way connector and includes everything you need to install an electric trailer brake controller and 7-way connector.
