4-Way to 7-Way Adapter Needed for 2018 Subaru Forester Towing Trailer with 7-Way

Question:
Do I assume correctly that these 7 to 4 pole adapters cannot be used in reverse? I need an adapter for my tear which has a 7 pole connector to tow with my Subaru which has a 4 pole flat. The only reason the Tear has a 7 pole is on long trips we use our Jeep which will run 12v electrical back to tear to jeep the campers battery topped off. There are no breaks on the tear. On shorter trips we are not concerned with keeping up the battery charge and would like to take the Subaru with the 4 pole and just make sure tail/signal lights are working. Is there an adapter for this purpose that does not need to be mounted to the vehicle? Just use to adapt then unplug and store when not in use? Thank you so much. p.s. just bought and installed a Curt hitch and wiring harness from you guys and saved so much $$$, they are awesome and great instructions! Thanks!

Glad to hear that you are happy with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12100 and the T-One # 118467 for your 2018 Subaru Forester!
In regards to the Hopkins Adapter # 47015 that you referenced, unfortunately you are correct that it cannot be used in reverse. You need a 7-Way receptacle which would need to be mounted on the Forester end of your towing setup. If you are concerned about having to drill into anything I have the perfect solution for you to avoid doing so.
The best adapter that we have is the Hopkins # 37185 which has both a 7-Way and a 4-Way adapter so that you can easily switch from one to the other. Since you are only needing the lighting functions you will just connect the 4-Way to your T-One, ground the white wire, and then tie off the remaining wires.
This adapter comes with a bracket for the connector itself so you would just need a no-drill bracket like the Tow Ready Long # 18136 or Short # 18140. This simply secures around your Curt trailer hitch and then you install the adapter to it. I have linked an installation video for you to check out as an example.
