i got a 2017 f150 with a 5.5ft bed. i would like the measurement to install the rails. thank you.!!

The correct fifth wheel rail kit for your 2017 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed is the Reese kit part # RP50087-58 which is a confirmed, custom-fit. The rear rail edge will be exactly 28-3/4 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed when installed and you'll use the front legs of your hitch to place the front rail once set in the rear rail.
I attached a picture that shows the measurement diagram from Reese as well.
There's only one slider hitch available for your truck that will allow it the needed clearance since your bed is so short. For that you'll need the automatic sliding Demco Hijacker 13k part # DM8550040 which slides 22-1/2 inches. This is almost double most slider hitches.
