Spare Tire Cover Compatibility with R17 Size Wheel/Tire

Question:

I just bought a spare tire cover that says it fits an R17 which is the size of my tire. Should the spare tire cover fit completely around the tire or just over it? Attached is a side pic of the bottom of the tire cover on the tire and the top of the tire with the cover.

Unfortunately your photo did not come through, so I'll answer the question to the best of my ability without it. A spare tire cover should fit over the sidewall, tread, and at least part of the back. The covers are designed to go by overall diameter and there are a few different sizes that will fit a 17 inch wheel, but not all of them will fit over your Radial tire well. If you give me all of the tire size information, I'm happy to make a recommendation.
