Parts Needed to Install 7-Way Connector and Brake Controller on 1995 Ford F-350

Updated 04/10/2018 | Published 04/07/2018

Question:

Have a 1995 F350 I need to install a trailer brake controller and all associated wiring splice into wiring harness, bumper mounted socket, and controller for two axles Do you offer this kind of setup as a kit?? I see you have a range of controllers, wiring harness taps, but I have not seen the connector for the trailer lead that has all lights and brake connectors. Would be nice to get a kit that I know will do what I need. How should I proceed? Thx

We have everything you need to install a fully functional 7-Way connector and a trailer brake controller on your 1995 Ford F-350. There is not a kit available with all of these parts included, but I will break down every item you will need.

Since it sounds like you do not have any type of connector or wiring already installed, you will want to start by installing a 4-Way with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118316. This is a custom-fit harness that will actually plug right into built-in ports beneath your truck, along the driver's-side frame rail.

Once installed, you will then need the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This kit includes everything else needed to install a 7-Way from the above mentioned 4-Way, along with the wiring and ring terminals for installing a brake controller. The actual 7-Way connector/plug that will connect with the trailer is also included. I have attached a great article that details the installation steps for this kit that you might find helpful.

Then, the only remaining piece is the brake controller itself. For this, I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is an excellent, proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your F-350. It features a digital display, 3 boost levels, and continuous diagnostics that will alert you to any potential issues.

I have included installation instructions for the products mentioned, along with a couple short video demonstrations. If you have any further questions during the process, please just let me know and I will be happy to help.
