Can License Plate Light of Vehicle be Used to Activate Back Up Camera

Is it possible to hook a license plate back up camera to a license plate light? Would doing this consume too much power?

It's very possible to use the license plate light circuit as a way to activate a backup camera. This style of install is more common than you'd think and is a great way to allow you to see behind you whenever you want. All you have to do is activate the running lights and camera comes on.

The Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA can be installed like this no problem.
