Question:
The instruction video gives a spacing of 80 centimeters between front and back. It seems this could be greater, to accommodate longer kayaks with more weight between the rails and placement closer to the internal bulkheads of the kayaks. There doesn’t seem to be a specification for front rail placement, but assuming starting at the end of the forward curve of the front door opening, it seems a spacing of 115 cm would possible. What is the basis for the 80 cm? Thanks

The roof rack manufacturers will determine the best place to install their racks on the roof of a vehicle and you have to use that location. The location they pick is where they determined the roof is the strongest and best suited for carrying the weight of roof rack cargo. We have to recommend you stick with the location Rhino Rack recommends when installing their rack part # RRVA150B-2, # RRRLKVA and # DK427.
I attached a chart that I got from Rhino Rack that details where you have to install this rack.
