Can Fastway Self-Locking Adjustable 3-Ball Mount be Used with 3 Inch Receiver and Reducer Sleeve

2017 Ford F-350 with 3inch receiver . will # DTALBM6825-3S work with the ford provided 2.5inch reducer . Thanks

I spoke with my contact at Fastway regarding the Self-Locking Adjustable 3-Ball Mount 2.5 Inch # DTALBM6825-3S referenced in your question. He stated that this actually will not work with the 3 inch receiver on your Ford F-350, even when using the Ford provided reducer sleeve. This is because of the design on the self-locking system that is utilized with this particular ball mount. The integrated locking knobs on the shank will do a great job of securing itself to the reducer sleeve, but because the sleeve only has one set of hitch pin holes, there will be no way to actually secure the sleeve to the hitch receiver.

If you want to stick with Fastway, a better option will be with the Flash E Series HD Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # FA42-00-2825, which does not feature the self-locking design. You can then use a standard locking hitch pin set like # FA86-00-3685 that will be compatible with the reducer sleeve and hitch receiver to secure everything into place. This includes a 2-5/16 inch and 2 inch hitch ball, with a maximum rise or drop of 8 inches.

If you'd rather not use the reducer sleeve at all, we do have adjustable ball mounts available that are designed specifically for 3 inch hitch receivers. I recommend taking a look at the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS30049B. This includes the 3 hitch balls like the Fastway model you were looking at and has a maximum rise of 7 inches or a maximum drop of 7-1/2 inches. You can add a locking hitch pin with # WS05 to help secure your investment.
