The Hopkins Backup Alert # HM20101VA is made overseas and is designed more for occasional consumer use rather than on vehicles that back up frequently. For a serious backup alert I recommend the Pollak Heavy-Duty Back-Up Alarm # PK41761. Not only does it conform to SAE J994 types A, B, & C standards but it also meets state, federal, OSHA, Bureau of Mines, and US Army Corps of Engineers' requirements.
A step down from it is # PK41851 which conforms to SAE J994 type B only and state, federal, OSHA, Bureau of Mines, and US Army Corps of Engineers' requirements.
And the entry-level one is # PK41822 which conforms to SAE J994 type B only as well as state, federal, and US Army Corps of Engineers' requirements.
These are all going to be universal as far as what vehicles they fit unlike # HM20101VA which only fits in place of a 3156 bulb. The three above hardwire into the reverse light circuit and ground to a bare metal surface.
