Question:
I have a KIA 2010 4 cyl Sportage. I was hooking up an ETrailer wiring kit for a trailer. Without even connecting the trailer the car lights stopped working correctly. I disconnected the kit but the car lights are still not working correctly. Help!

What I believe has happened is that the vehicle wiring has sensed an overload and the fuse for the lights has blown. Check your owners manual for the location of the fuses for the vehicle tail lights and replace any that are blown.
Next, before you make any other connections, make sure to attach the white ground wire on the # 119178KIT harness to a bare metal surface. Once the ground is secured you can then make the other connections. Make sure the yellow wire attaches to left turn signal only wire on the vehicle. The brown wire is for running lights only behind the left tail light. And the red wire is for brake lights only behind the left tail light.
Route the green wire to the passenger side tail light and connect it to the right turn only wire. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation that may be helpful.
If you continue to have problems with this harness there could be something wrong with the converter and it will need to be replaced. Another option is to use a powered converter, # 119179KIT. This kit installs the same way but with one additional wire connection. It requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery. This connection virtually eliminates the power draw on the tail light wiring.
