I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Cipa Towing Mirror, # 10300, for the 1996 Dodge Ram. From the edge of the housing where the factory mirror will be to the edge of the glass at the furthest out point measures 5 inches.
The overall length including the housing is 15-1/2 inches. The glass itself measures 5-1/2 inches tall by 4-1/4 inches wide. I made a video for you showing the dimensions.
