Published 01/05/2018

Question:

Me again ... Been reading more your Q and A .. sorry I didnt before asking ... Ok .. so it is the motorcycle + the actual weight of carrier .. Make sure that does not exceed the tongue weight ... In your article I see the MT70101 weighs 47 lbs without packing ... Is that correct ? How much does the UF48-979033 weigh ? How much does the K2TMC201 weight ? Thanks,

The capacities of the Detail K2 Carrier part # K2TMC201 vary depending on the tongue weight capacity of the hitch it is installed in. They rate it like this to help you prevent overloading the hitch. Also you have to keep in mind that a lower rated hitch is going to allow a bit more flex which would possibly put more strain on the rack as well.

I attached a chart that shows how the numbers relate to each other. What you need to do is find out the tongue weight capacity of your hitch and go with the nearest number as the carrier capacity.
