Expert Reply:
Molded 7-way trailer connectors like the Bargman # 54006-009 always have the copper because of its electrical connection properties. The way to keep them from corrosion over time is to use dielectric grease # 11755. This keeps moisture, dirt, and debris out of your connections that can lead to corrosion. This grease actually assists in the electrical connections as well, so it is a help in both ways.
