In 2012 the XV edition was used on a Subaru Impreza and in 2013 the XV edition was used on a Subaru Crosstrek. Therefore you will need to go through the fitguide for a 2012 Subaru Impreza in order to find the correct hitch.

For your 2012 Subaru Impreza XV you can choose from either the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT24959 or the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11286. The Curt trailer hitch requires the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap part # 18050 for all non-towing applications whereas the Draw-Tite trailer hitch does not.

If you can tell me what you will be using the hitch for I can offer additional recommendations. I have attached an installation video on each trailer hitch for you.
