Recommended Landing Gear for Hillsboro 300 Gooseneck Trailer

Updated 10/17/2017 | Published 10/16/2017

Question:

I have a 98 #24k Hillsboro 300 gooseneck trailer with 2 spring return leg jacks made by Stallion. One jack was binding up when raising or lowering and finally just ped out. The threads in the nut are almost gone. Not sure how to get the nut out, looks like it is held by a plate that is welded in? You sell the kit for the bulldog that may work with my jack? Does the bulldog jacks nut come out easily? This trailer hasnt had much use, not sure why Im having this problem. Should I just buy new jacks and weld them on? Would they be better quality?

On your 1998 24K Hillsboro 300 gooseneck trailer, the Stallion Landing gear is not a brand I'm familiar with. The Replacement Screw and Nut Kit for 12000-lb Capacity Bulldog Jacks # BD500217 is not welded in and has a 2 inch by 2-3/4 inch nut on a threaded 1.25 inch diameter screw.

Because you say the nut may be welded, I recommend changing out the jacks completely with the Bulldog Square Jack - Drop Leg w/ Spring Return - Sidewind - 12-1/2" Lift - 10,000 lbs # BD182800. I've attached a video to assist. This will be a better quality jack than you current system.
