Question:
Will the SportRack Vista XL interfere with the hatch opening on a MINI Cooper Hardtop/coupe 2011 with OEM rack? How about a Yakima 14 Y07192?

Either the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box, item # SR7018, or the Yakima RocketBox Pro 14, item # Y07192, will install on the factory rack of your Mini Cooper. There are several things to keep in mind when installing a cargo box on this vehicle.
First, any load/mount extending beyond the rear hatch seam may cause interference. You will need to move the front crossbar as far forward as it will go, measure the distance from the center of your front crossbar to the hatch seam of your vehicle. If you have at least a measurement of 40 inches of clearance the Rocketbox 14 will fit with no hatch interference. The Sport Rack model is slightly larger so you would need at least 4 more inches of space to clear the hatch.
Next, any load extending over the leading edge of the windshield (except luggage boxes) must be secured to both the front and rear of the vehicle, in addition to the rack.
Then, the total weight of the racks and load must not exceed the weight limit for the vehicle factory rack or roof, see dealer or owners manual for this information.
Finally a roof mounted antenna may need to be removed to prevent interference with a cargo box.
With the size limitations of the Mini, I would go with the Yakima Box for increased clearance and to be sure to stay within the capacity of the vehicle rack and roof.
