I have a similar retractable tonneau cover that is as fit for your 2017 Ram 2500 short bed, but the Pace # 311-SMD7833 would not be it as it overlaps the bed rails slightly.
Instead the # BAK26203 would be your best option as it is a fit for your truck and would work well with a TracRac sliding ladder rack like the part # TH43003XT-000 which is a fit for your truck.
