Fitting an Accessory with a 2 Shank in a 1-1/4 Receiver Hitch

Question:
i have a 2003 dodge caravan, it has a 1/14 tow hitch. what i need to know how can i get a 2 two fit my hitch.

We offer a hitch adapter that will adapt a 1-1/4 receiver to a 2 inch, part # HTAD.
Keep in mind that using an adapter will lower the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent. For instance, if your current hitch has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity, using an adapter will lower the capacity to 175 lbs. This will mean that the hitch accessory (bike rack or cargo carrier) plus what ever is carried on it can weigh no more than 175 lbs. This is caused by the additional leverage placed on the receiver by using the adapter.
Your best bet would be to either upgrade to a class III receiver that has a 2 inch receiver opening like part # 36296 or use an accessory that has the 1-1/4 inch shank.
