For a trailer hitch that is confirmed to fit your 1992 Ford Ranger, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 75082. This Class III hitch will provide a 2 inch receiver opening and a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds, although I also recommend verifying your vehicle's capacity as listed in the owner's manual.

Then for a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55314. This is a custom-fit harness that will install on your Ranger by connecting directly to the built-in port located along the inside of the left rear frame rail. This port will have a connection point with connectors that match the ends of the Curt adapter.

We do not have a wiring diagram available for your vehicle, but I have attached the written installation details for this harness on your Ford Ranger that should be helpful.

If you will be towing a trailer, you will also need a ball mount. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.

Will the # 75082 hitch install on a 1994 Ford Ranger supercab with 4.0L, 4x4, manual transmission and 3.73 gears? Also if you have a tow rating for this vehicle with weight distribution I would appreciate it. I am unable to find an accurate rating. Thanks!!

As long as your 1994 Ranger is equipped with the factory step bumper (which was standard), the Draw-Tite # 75082 will fit perfectly. From what I could find it looks like your Ford Ranger has a towing capacity of up to 4,500 pounds when using a weight distribution system. If you still have the truck's owner's manual handy, I would definitely try to verify this by checking out its towing section. You can also contact at a local Ford dealer and they should be able to help.
