Question:

Hi there - I would like safety chains with a clevis hook on both ends. I am thinking this safety chain + 6495-301-04 gives me what I need. The description for the extra clevis hook though says that the safety pin is 7/16. It isnt clear if this will work with this set of safety chains since they are 5/16. Thanks.

On the Clevis Hook with Latch, 5/16" Item # 6495-301-04 the pin that would go through a chain link is 7/16 inches in diameter like you said. That means that the internal width of a chain link would have to be at or a little above 7/16 inches in order for the pin to go through the link.

For safety chains # 49150 the metal of the links is 5/16 inches but the opening in a link is a hair under 1/2 an inch and so they would work with # 6495-301-04.

You could also use Safety Chain with Quick Links - 72" Long - 5,000 lbs Item # TR63035. The quick links on these chains has an internal width of over 1/2 an inch so it will work.
