I spoke with the trailer hitch manufacturer, who informed me that there are no changes on the 2018 Subaru models that should affect the fit of trailer hitches. I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III – 2", Item # 75673. The manufacturer confirmed this to fit the 2018 Subaru Outback.
This hitch includes computer-aided, fully welded steel construction for maximum strength and durability, easy bolt-on installation, and a black powder coat finish for superior rust protection. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs. However, your towing capacity will still be capped by the limitations of your vehicle, so it's always best to check your owner's manual for the maximum weight your vehicle can tow. I've attached a helpful article on trailer hitch classes for your convenience. I've also attached a video showing this hitch installation on a 2017 Subaru Outback.
Note that the ball mount, pin, and clip are sold separately, Item # 989900. I've attached an article on choosing a ball mount. You will want to verify the rise/drop needed before selecting a ball mount.
If you need trailer wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, Item # 118467. I checked with the manufacturer, who confirmed that this model will fit the 2018 Outbacks (excluding the Sport models).
