Question:
This 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End Item # HM40975 looks like it will exactly fit in my 2017 Tacoma rear bumper where there is a dummy plug this shape. Will it? And, can I marry it up with another of your products that will complete the wiring requirements for a trailer with brakes?

We can help you equip your 2017 Toyota Tacoma with a 7-way trailer connector to allow installation and use of a trailer brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. The Prodigy is highly reliable and among the best values in a brake controller.
Test the contacts on the plug you found with a tester like # PTW2993 to see if any of those circuits are active. If so, you will use Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness Kit # 22117 which allows brake controller installation on tow-package-equipped models.
If the plug is not active, then instead you'll use a 4-pole harness # C56349 along with our Brake Controller Install kit # ETBC7. These two parts include all the components needed, including a 7-way/4-pole connector. An install video is linked along with a helpful article.
Part # HM40975 is a general-purpose replacement 7-way for any vehicle that uses a round U.S. Car connector.
