Friction Sway Control Bar Making Groaning Noises After 4 Years of Use

Question:

Ive had this system for about 4 years and it works great. Recently however the sway bar has been making a groaning sound whenever moving. I know its the sway bar because if I loosen it the noises stop. Any ideas?

It sounds like the friction sway control bar needs to be cleaned. All you have to do is remove the slide bar from the unit and clean off the friction surfaces with a wire brush. You may also need to blow out the inside of the unit to clear out any crud stuck inside. This is also a good time to inspect the unit for damage and excessive wear.

If you determine that you need a new one they are very reasonably priced. You would need # 83660.
