Troubleshooting Fuses Blowing With Curt Trailer Wiring Harness On 2003 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 05/05/2017 | Published 05/04/2017

Question:

I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma 2WD, 4cyl, DLX, with a Curt T-connector #C55379. Several months ago I was blowing fuses for turn signals, tail lights, brake lights, parking lights and 4-way hazard lights no trailer connected. After process of elimination I disconnected the t-converter from the tail lights of my truck, replaced the blown fuses and everything works great. Now summer is approaching and I need to get my wiring fixed to tow my boat. I re-grounded the t-connector and I am still having the same problem. My guess is the converter box? Do I need to buy a new converter? Any help would be immensely appreciated, thank you!

It sounds like the converter is bad on your Curt T-connector # C55379. Since you re-grounded it, the harness should function correctly unless there is an issue with the converter because your vehicle lights are working. I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118379. If you have the same issue with this connector, then there is more to your issue than the harness and we will need to do further testing, but right now it does sound like the harness is faulty.
