Question:
I have a new 2017 Forester with a Draw-Tite 36523 installed, and a Swagman G10. On paper, with the G10 folded up, there should be clearance. In reality, its about 1/16inch of an inch. image attached Do you know if the Curt C12100 has more clearance, aka, the tongue sticks out past the bumper more, or less than the Draw-Tite? I might have to change hitch, or get creative.

Expert Reply:
Between the Curt Class II Hitch, # C12100 and the Draw-Tite Class II Hitch, # 36523, the Curt hitch is 2-1/2 inches closer to the rear bumper on a 2017 Subaru Forester.
We test fitted both hitches on the same 2017 Subaru Forester and found that the Curt receiver sits closer to the bumper and in turn will allow more clearance between the vehicle and a tow accessory like a bike rack.
If your are almost touching the bumper of your vehicle when folding your Swagman G10 Bike Rack in the up position using the Draw-Tite hitch, the Curt hitch should move the rack 2-1/2 farther away from the bumper.
