Question:
Have a trailer with 14inch trailer rims. Looks like car tires currently on them -175 70 R14 Cooper Trendsetter SE. Looking for something to replace them? Would 215 75 R14 work? It seems like the standard for trailers? Think whats on their is wrong. Thanks

When upgrading to a larger trailer tire like the Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM2157514D referenced in your question, you will just need to make sure you will have the needed wheel well clearance on your trailer to accommodate the increased diameter of the tire and wheel. This 215/75R14 tire will be about 2.67 inches larger in diameter than the 175/70R14 tires currently on your trailer. The tire has a 2,200 pound maximum load at 65 psi, so you will also want to make sure the combined capacity of your tires will exceed your maximum trailer weight. If your trailer has the required clearance, these should work great.
You are correct in stating that the existing tires on your trailer are most likely incorrect, as their size is a common vehicle tire size and not designed for use on trailers.
A slightly smaller tire that will also fit the 14-inch rims on your trailer is a 205/75R14 size like the Provider # TR20514. This will be about 2.08 inches larger in diameter than your current tires and has a 1,760 pound maximum load at 50 psi.
I have attached video reviews on both of these tires as well as a few trailer tire articles that you may find helpful. Just keep in mind that the best way to extend the life of trailer tires is to always inflate them to the recommended maximum psi and ensure that you are always working under their combined load capacity.
